The corners of Kapiolani and Kalakaua are still considered one of Honolulu's busiest intersections in Honolulu. During the late 60's, CoCo's all night restaurant, Lippy Espinda's "shaka" Used Cars on the mauka, mountain , side and Aloha Motors were familiar landmarks just as you entered the "gateway" to Waikiki. Recent establishments such as the Hard Rock Cafe and now the Hawai'i State Convention Center guard this entrance.
