"Well, it's a very personal experience which began with my search for my birth mother in 1992, and ended with my finding her about a year later...Dorothy Teruya, the owner of McCully Superette.

While growing up in Honolulu I also frequented the store on my way from school to visit a boyfriend who lived a block or 2 away from the store. I'm still amazed how many times she must have served me at the cash register, neither of us having a clue that we were related.
